CELESTE LITTEK (M.Ed.-Dip.T)

Celeste is a consultant on Autism Spectrum and works with families, teachers, schools, professionals and specialists to develop training courses which best meet the needs of those who support and care for people on the Autism Spectrum. She has worked as a regular teacher, an early intervention teacher, and an Adviser on ASD.  Celeste has co-developed national training programmes for the NZ Ministry of Education (e.g. TIPS for Autism and Early Identification and Intervention for Autism) and Autism NZ (Recognising the needs of children and young people with autism and Asperger syndrome). Other training programmes she has developed and deliver include 'Understanding ASD-Implications for Learning'; 'Introduction to Advanced Strategies'; 'Making it Work-A whole school approach to inclusion os students on the autism spectrum', 'Early identification and play intervention', 'Social-Communication Strategies for ASD', 'Understanding and using Social Stories'; and 'Implementing the Functional Assessment of Communication Skills (FACS) Tool'. She has presented at national and international conferences, is a trainer of NAS EarlyBird trainers, delivers Autism NZ’s SPELL and HELP programmes, and has over 25 years of personal and professional experience in Autism.

She has researched the area of social inclusion for students with ASD, and was a research mentor for the Ministry of Education’s Participatory Action Research Project. Celeste contracts to Autism NZ, parents/carers, schools, universities, RTLBs, GSE, early childhood, and service providers locally and nationally.
